Newark's Neighbouring Nutrition Services

At times, Newark Neighbours is in the fortunate situation of holding generous food stocks when other food banks and associations in the area are in need of additional supplies. In these circumstances we send what we feel can be spared to organizations such as the Ontario Federation for Cerebral Palsy, Community Care, Project Share, The Salvation Army, and Women4Women.

Newark Neighbours Bursary Program

"We are incredibly grateful for your bursary support and want you to know that your support over the years has brought a tremendous amount of happiness and joy to those who through no fault of their own, have had to reach out for assistance.
You have given our dear students hope for a brighter tomorrow."
(Laura Byers, past Executive Director, Education Foundation of Niagara)

The Newark Neighbours Bursary was established in 2016 to financially assist qualified graduating high school students to pursue post secondary educational opportunities.  The bursary stipulates that the students must reside in Niagara-on-the-Lake and  includes, but is not necessarily exclusive to, direct dependents of Newark Neighbours food bank clients.

The selection criteria includes: an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), an emphasis on the applicant’s level of school and community involvement, career goals and financial need, academic standing, and efforts in contributing to their tuition and references.

Newark Neighbours works in collaboration with the Education Foundation of Niagara (on behalf of the District School Board of Niagara) and the Niagara Catholic District School Board on this bursary program.

A maximum of three student bursary recipients are chosen from each of the two respective school boards: Niagara Catholic District School Board and District School Board of Niagara.   The bursaries are presented to the successful bursary recipients at their respective commencement ceremony.

NOTE: Qualified applicants must complete and submit all the required accompanying documents in one package to their respective school.  Application Deadline: May 1, 2024.

Education Foundation of Niagara’s Prom Project

Newark Neighbours supports the Education Foundation of Niagara’s Prom Project. Any gently worn formal ladies or men’s attire and shoes we receive are donated directly to the Project.  This allows graduating students to shine at their graduation ceremonies and celebrations.

Thanking the community for all the fabulous donations for the education foundation of Niagara Prom Project which will be held on May 6 2023

Red Roof Retreat

Since 2016, Newark Neighbours has chosen to donate our July Thrift Shop gross sales to Red Roof Retreat. Red Roof Retreat provides quality respite and recreational programs for children, youth and young adults with special needs, as well as their families, in the Niagara Region.
