Reif Estate Winery is excited to announce a new partnership with local community group Newark Neighbours that will help to feed those in need. Owner Klaus W. Reif is inviting members of the community to stop by the winery in March to enjoy a complimentary tasting of select wines with a donation of a non-perishable food item toward their ‘Taste for Hunger’ food drive.

“March is traditionally a time when our shelves at Newark Neighbours start to run low after the great food drives of Christmas are over. But with Easter just around the corner, and as with all holidays, Newark provides a regular supply of two weeks of groceries and all the ingredients to help our clients and their families have a holiday dinner. Items we can always use are canned proteins including meats and legumes as well as canned vegetables. Specialty items could be scallop potato mixes, canned pineapple and peaches. Any non-perishable, non-expired food donations are most welcome.

Contrary to what many people think, we still have people in need in our own neighbourhood and Newark Neighbours is there to lend a helping hand. Reif Winery has always been a generous supporter of our volunteer events at Newark and now they are going even further to help.” Hilary Bellis, President Newark Neighbours.

One of Niagara-on-the-Lake’s founding family wineries, Reif opened in 1982. Today, the large 125-acre estate produces a complete range of varietals, including Vidal Icewine, a perennial medal winner. Newark Neighbours who has been in operation for over 40 years is the only food bank serving Niagara-on-the-Lake so it seemed a natural partnership to serve our community.
