Newark Neighbours Bursary Program
The Newark Neighbours Bursary was
established in 2016 to financially assist qualified graduating high school students to pursue post secondary educational opportunities.
The bursary stipulates that the students must
reside in Niagara-on-the-Lake and includes, but is not necessarily exclusive to, direct dependents of Newark Neighbours food bank clients.
The selection criteria includes: an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), an emphasis on the applicant’s level of school and community involvement, career goals and financial need, academic standing, efforts in contributing to their tuition and references.
Newark Neighbours works in collaboration with the Education Foundation of Niagara (on behalf of the District School Board of Niagara) and the Niagara Catholic District School Board on this bursary program.
A maximum of three student bursary recipients are chosen from each of the two respective school boards: Niagara Catholic District School Board and District School Board of Niagara. The bursaries are presented to the successful bursary recipients at their respective commencement ceremony.
